Graffiti Story # Spit 2 back with Sorek

My name is Sorek from WBS RDC RSK. It was maybe 2 AM late night in the 818 Valley—Ventura Blvd. to be exact. Me and two other homies were out late one night, shoutout Erth WBS RDC, shoutout Devonche, and we scoped a billboard we wanted to paint, so we parked the car, grabbed our paint and telescope ladder, and made our way to the spot. We had to climb two roofs to reach the ladder which hangs down from the billy (billboard). So we used our ladder to climb up the first roof, then pulled it up and used it again to climb the second roof, then finally climb the ladder up to the billy. Anyways, we’re up there painting. Erth finishes first and decides to go around to the other side and paint the other billboard that is connected, so I’m like “Fuck it I’m gonna hit the other side too.” I finish up my first bomb and start painting the second one on the other side for maybe 10 to 15 minutes when we start to hear a helicopter in the distance. You see, usually when helicopters pass by we just lie down, stop moving and everything is all good. So that’s what we did but this time we notice the helicopter starts circling around us—one, two, three times, before leaving. It was weird because they did all of that but didn’t spotlight us, so we took that as our queue to leave the scene.

So we climb down the billboard ladder, climb down the first roof, then down the second. Now, I’m the last person to climb down out of all of us so as I’m about to touch the floor we hear the helicopter approaching again. We quickly collapse the ladder and all of a sudden see the heli (helicopter) with its big ass spotlight coming towards us, so we take off running. At this point I’m running with the heavy ladder literally seeing the shadow of myself on the street floor running right in front of me. If you recall, there was three of us and at first we all ran the same direction but Erth and I cut back at one point and ran in the opposite direction towards a back alley. In doing this I ditched the ladder. That decision gave us a small 10 second window to luckily find a hiding spot between a storage container and the back of some random business. That’s when Erth says call “Bro we can’t stay here jump in the dumpster.” I don’t know how we manage to hop in the dumpster without being spotted but we did. We were in there hiding for an hour before the helicopter finally left. It’s crazy thinking about it now because the helicopter would try to bait us out by starting to fly away and then come right back trying to get us to blow our cover. This whole time in the trashcan we can see the helicopter’s spotlight creeping through the cracks between the two dumpster doors. Finally the helicopter actually leaves and we wait a few minutes to make sure he wasn’t coming back. The coast seemed clear when we start to hear rummaging in some trash cans that sounded maybe a couple buildings away from us so we hop out and run. As we’re running through the alley we look over to the street side and see two squad cars (police) so we turn around and hop the first while we see to our left. At this point we stash our paint behind an electric box and start looking for an exit when we hear footsteps, keys, and walkie-talkies approaching.

So we takeoff running again this time up a flight of stairs. To our luck it led to a dead end and all we can hear is “Stop! Stop running!” so we jump off. We had so much adrenaline that we didn’t feel the impact and kept running. Somehow we ended up running towards the exit/entrance of this property we had jumped in when we see a security booth and two security guards walking towards us. Instinctively I juke one guard out making him trip on the floor and that allows Erth to get between the guards. Now we’ve exited the property and we’re still running when Erth trips on himself out of exhaustion, but he gets back up and we jump into the first apartment complex we see and hide out until we finally got picked up by the homies girl at like 5 AM. Shoutout to her for that and for driving me back to pick up the ladder where I had dropped it.

The next morning we realize that we had actually jumped into the CBS recording studios off the corner of Ventura Boulevard and Radford Avenue. As for our third Homie he kept running straight when Erth and I turned around back into the alley, so he ended up getting chased down and got busted at gunpoint. Turns out the police thought we were breaking into the buildings so they ended up letting my boy Devon go and returned his paint. The end.
